Rothfuss announces WY Senate Campaign "Two years ago, while I was campaigning as the Democratic candidate for United States Senate against Mike Enzi, I had people from every corner of our State – Democrats, Independents, and even Republicans – asking me to consider running for the Wyoming State Legislature in 2010.  They said Wyoming needed my expertise as a chemical engineer to help shape our State’s energy future.  They understood the value of my technical training, my relationship with the University of Wyoming, and my experience as a science advisor and diplomat at the U.S. Department of State, and they encouraged me to remain engaged in Wyoming politics. They also knew that I would always put the needs of the people of our state, and our nation, ahead of party politics...."

It is absolutely unacceptable that the United States is dependent upon foreign countries to meet our energy needs.  We have the natural resources, the technical expertise, the market demand and a motivated energy industry.  All we lack is the political leadership in Washington, DC.  Not only has Congress failed to provide legislation that enables sufficient domestic energy development, they have been a liability – blocking solutions and standing in the way of technological advances.  Sustainable energy independence is a national security imperative and the most important issue of our time.

If we really want to protect 2nd Amendment rights in the future, it won't be enough to continue to rely on a one party approach.  We need to send more Democrats to Congress that are strong advocates for these rights, particularly now that Dems are in the majority.

This train did not wreck itself, but nobody is taking responsibility.  Through action, inaction, and failed oversight, Congress (both parties) and the Bush administration have crafted this economy.  Political action committees (PACs) representing the financial sector contribute heavily to campaigns and lobby strongly against regulation.  Unfortunately, there is no comparable force lobbying on behalf of the people for transparency, fair lending, and responsible asset management.  The members of the House that voted for the bailout on Monday received an average of 51% more campaign contributions from the finance, insurance and real estate sector than those that voted against it.  That’s no coincidence.
