Most incumbent legislators will go unchallenged

With the passage of Friday’s deadline to file a candidacy for public office, most incumbent state legislators representing Laramie and Albany County will go unchallenged. Incumbent representatives Cathy Connolly, a Democrat representing House District 13; Kermit Brown, a Republican representing House District 14; and Glen Moniz, a Republican representing House District 46, all filed paperwork with the Wyoming Secretary of State’s office to run again.

Incumbent Democrat Seth Carson, representing House District 45, also filed for reelection. Carson will go unchallenged until the November general election, when he will face off against the only Republican to file for House District 45, Matthias Greene.

Senate District 9 saw two Democratic candidates file — Chris Rothfuss and Jodi Guerin. No Republicans filed.

For state legislature, Democrats Chris Rothfuss and Jodi Guerin have filed to run in Senate District Nine. In Senate District 11, which includes a small portion of Albany County, Republicans Blake Waldrop, Larry Hicks and Sue Hewitt have filed.  Democrat Jim Elliott has also filed to run for senate District 11.
